Quick Start Guide
Congratulations on your purchase of the DashTrak™ by WalkStyles, Inc.
The DashTrak is an innovative and easy to use device designed to help you
achieve your personal wellness goals.
Your DashTrak is simple to use. It has a Display Screen, a Main Menu Screen
and several sub-menus for programming.
The Display Screen shows your current information. It includes STEPS, MILES
and CALORIES. You can scroll through the screens by pressing NEXT. This screen
will reset to 0 steps every night at midnight. The DashTrak will store up to
several weeks of data.
The Main Menu is activated by pressing the green Menu button. It includes SAFE
TO CONNECT TO PC, REVIEW PREVIOUS DAY, REVIEW LAST EVENT, SET UP A TIMED
EVENT, CHANGE DASHTRAK SETTINGS and ENTER PERSONAL INFORMATION.
BEGIN BY DETERMINING YOUR STRIDE
Setting up your DashTrak is easy. First you will need to determine your stride
length and enter it into the DashTrak for accurate step measurement.
Everyone has a different stride length.
-
Place your WalkStyles tape measure on a flat surface with the “inches” side up
and place both heels even with the “0” end of the tape.
-
Step forward in a normal walking manner and count your steps until the heel of
one foot is closest to the end (3-5 steps average). Note the measurement at the
heel of that foot.
-
Repeat 2 - 3 times for accuracy.
-
Divide the distance measured by the number of steps you have taken (example:
120”/ 4 steps is a 30”stride). Write down this number. You will need it when
you enter your personal settings.
PROGRAM
You will need to charge your DashTrak for at least 2 hours before you are able
to program it. After charging, tap it against the palm of your hand several
times to verify that steps are being recorded. Now it’s time to
personalize your settings. Press the green MENU button to start your DashTrak
in the Main Menu mode.
CHANGE DASHTRAK SETTINGS
SET TIME, US OR METRIC, CHIME VOLUME & AUTO SCAN - Scroll through the main
menu to CHANGE DASHTRAK SETTINGS. Select YES, then scroll through the sub-menus
to SET TIME, US OR METRIC, CHIME VOLUME and AUTO SCAN. Use the appropriate
buttons to adjust and confirm your settings, then press DONE.
ENTER PERSONAL SETTINGS
SET STRIDE, WEIGHT & AGE - Scroll through the main menu to ENTER PERSONAL
INFO. Select YES, then scroll through the submenus to SET STRIDE LENGTH, WEIGHT
and AGE. Use the appropriate buttons to adjust and confirm your settings, then
press DONE.
PERSONALIZE
To get the most accurate step measurement for your size and walking style, you
can adjust the DashTrak’s impact sensitivity.
-
Open your DashTrak.
-
Using your thumb, firmly push the slotted edge of the interchangeable face
plate cover up and away from you until the faceplate pops off completely.
Remove the faceplate so the outside of the DashTrak is exposed.
-
You will see a tension lever on the exposed RIGHT side of the device. To make
the DashTrak MORE sensitive to lighter steps adjust the lever up. To make
it LESS sensitive to stronger steps, move the lever down.
-
Replace faceplate.
VERIFY STEP ACCURACY
With your DashTrak on your waist aligned over your right knee, you should take
a test walk of 40 steps. If it is off by more than 4 steps, try readjusting the
impact sensitivity.
